PESHAWAR, Feb.11- Chairman, Qoumi Wattan Party (QWP), Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao said that rulers concentrating on the development of Punjab and inaugurating development schemes only in than province.
Addressing a big public meeting held on the occasion of the 42nd death anniversary of Shaheed Hayat Mohammad Khan Sherpao at his native town, Sherpao in district Charsadda on Saturday, Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao, who was elected chief minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa twice, said that the federation of Pakistan is comprised of four federating units. He said that all federating units have equal rights, but they are not visible anywhere, which is a matter of high concern.
Central Secretary General of QWP and Provincial Minister for Mineral Development, Anisa Zeb Tahirkheli also addressed the public meeting.
The QWP chief said that people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and FATA have rendered matchless sacrifices, but still they are ignored. He said that though under 18th Constitutional Amendment some rights have been devolved to provinces, but it was not implemented and we are being denied our right. He said that the province has even denied right on its resources of electricity and natural gas.
He said that today Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif is cutting ribbons of development, which we appreciate, but also demanding a right of our province in it. He also demanded due rights of all four federating units in China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). However, we will satisfy after sighting it practically and after taking into confidence.
Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao said that the economy of the province is dependent on agriculture and the provision of irrigation water is pre-requisite for it, which will be guaranteed only after provision of water in proportion to our due share under Water Accord of 1991.
Similarly, he also demanded the inclusion of irrigation oriented projects under CPEC to provide water to our growers. Furthermore, he said that the inclusion of the construction of Munda Dam and Pehur High Level Canal in CPEC could also have projected our rights in head of water.
About FATA reforms, the chairman QWP said that the people of tribal belt have rendered huge sacrifices for the country and have fought in Kashmir war, saying the graves of their elders in Kashmir are ample proofs of it. He said that even today, they have been displaced from their houses and living the life of TDPs in different districts of province.
He said that an opportunity has been arrived to change the fate of tribesmen and they have merger with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and now it has become our duty to speak in their favour. He said that they welcomed the decision of the merger of FATA into KP and in this have also spoke in the National Assembly.
He said that a meeting of the federal cabinet had delayed it for some time, but in last meeting though it was on priority, but excluded from the agenda, which is a conspiracy against both Pakhtuns of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and FATA.
He demanded the unveiling of the faces of those involved in the conspiracy. He was also critical of those forces and elders, which are opposing the merger of FATA into KP. He said that no one had objected the formation of the FATA reforms committee, but now why the coalition partners of the government are objecting.
The QWP chief asked the youth and civil society of FATA to come out on roads against it and assured them full support on behalf of their party.
